By JEFFREY BECK, Associated PressA MAN who was hailed as a prophet for his son’s life-changing encounter with God and the “god of the sea” has been charged with murder.

The man is accused of killing his mother, Teresa Persis, who was a singer and folk singer in the Persian world.

The case has been turned over to the Georgia Supreme Court, which on Monday ordered that the suspect be held without bail pending a probable cause hearing.

The 39-year-old father of three was arrested Monday afternoon on charges of first-degree murder and attempted murder.

He is being held without bond at the Allegany County jail on $1 million bond.

He is due back in court on March 21.

The court has set a preliminary hearing for Feb. 10.
